The evaporator coil is used to evaporate the remaining liquid being delivered
from the metering device. A blower unit pushes air from the space to be
conditioned across the evaporator coil. Since the liquid in the evaporator is at
low pressure and temperature it evaporates as the air passes through the coil.
The evaporating liquid absorbs heat from the air producing chilled air. The
output of the evaporator is 100% gas and this gas passes back to the
compressor where the cycle repeats.
