How Does it work?
Cooling only units and heat pumps operate in much the same way.
The Major difference is that the heat pump can absorb heat from inside the
home or from the outside air. Absorbing heat from the home results in
cooling the air in the home. Absorbing heat from the outside air and releasing
in the home results in heating the home..
In the "refrigeration cycle" of Figures 1 and 2 below the blue lines are the
cool gas, Red lines are the Hot Gas and Green lines show here liquid
refrigerant exist within the system. Note that the cold and hot gas is passed
through opposite coils in the heating process.
