The modern heat pump can
provide excellent heating
during warmer winter weather.
However, as the outside
temperature drops the heat
pump must use electric heat
and initiate defrost cycles,
both of which significantly
increase operating costs.
Heat pumps also lose capacity
as the outside temperature falls
making them more reliant on
their electric heaters
The modern gas furnace is a wonderful heating
appliance. Preferred by many for its quick
heating and warm air output at the registers.
However, most gas furnace are fixed capacity
producing a constant level of warm air at any
outside temperature. At warmer outside
temperature's these furnaces have overcapacity
that results in short cycling he furnace, short
cycling reduces efficiency and places greater
stresses on the furnace heat exchanger.
In addition gas price costs can greatly increase
during cold months. This is true even if our
region stays relatively mild as north eastern
weather conditions effect the national supply and
costs of gas.
DUAL FUEL:
In the Dual Fuel configuration a gas furnace and a heat pump condenser are
used together.
1) The heat pump is configured to provide heating when the outside
temperature is above 35-40 degrees F. No electric heat is used in the system.
Although defrost cycles are still allowed they are used only when a furnace
problem exist and the heat pump is used for emergency heating at
temperatures below 35 degree's. The heat Pump provides for all the cooling
requirement's of the home.
2) The gas furnace operates at the lower outside temperature's (below 35-40
degrees (F) keeping the home comfortable at the lowest outside temperature's
experienced in our region.
Together this configuration provides the optimal point of operation for
each appliance used.
Our custom control's and expert installation insures maximum
performance, comfort, and it works automatically, nothing to learn just
set your thermostat and it's done!
